Sunshine Blogger Award

sunshine bloggeraward

Guess who’s back from her unannounced hiatus? ME. I was so busy for the last one and a half month with all my semester exams and practicals that I just couldn’t fit in the time to blog (bound to happen when you leave all the studying to be done at the last minute). Anyways.. exams are finally over and summer vacations have started. That means it is time to READ and BLOG. I’m so excited! ❤

I was nominated towards the beginning of the year by Kourtni @ Kourtni Reads for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Thought this would be a fun little post to help get back on the groove. So without any further ado, let’s get on with this.

THE RULES OF THE TAG:

  1. Thank the person who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
  2. Answer the 11 questions sent by the person who nominated you.
  3. Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and then write 11 new questions.
  4.  List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

What 2017 releases are you most excited for?

There. Are. So. Many. I feel like 2017 has been an incredible year when it comes to new releases. I can’t wait to read The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, Caraval by Stephanie GarberAlways and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny HanFlame in the Mist by Renee AhdiehOrigin by Dan Brown, Once and for All by Sarah Dessen to name a few off the top of my head.

What book did you read in 2016 that you want everyone to read?

Even though I read quite a few books last year, I didn’t have as many five star reads that I’d have liked to have. But there are two particular books stand out : All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny HanI absolutely loved these two books and I wish everyone would read them.

Are there any authors whose books you desperately want to like, but just can’t get into?

Okay. So unpopular opinion time. I tried reading Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater but couldn’t get past the first ten pages. I’ve heard so many great things about her writing and I felt really bad for having to put it down. The same goes for An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. Hardly read the first fifty pages. I don’t know why this happened because both of these books are pretty much loved. I do plan to give them another try this year so we’ll see.

What was the most recent book you read that surprised you (in either a good or bad way)?

I recently read The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh and I LOVED it. I had read The Wrath and the Dawn last year and even though I did enjoy it, I didn’t expect a lot out of the second book. But I was blown away by the writing and the rich imagery, to say the least.

Are you participating in any reading challenges this year?

I’m participating in the Goodreads Reading Challenge. I’ve challenged myself to read 100 books this year (failing, as of now). I’m also taking part in the Beat the Backlist challenge and trying to complete the Grand World of Books Bingo.

What was the last book you bought?

I bought the (absolutely beautiful) Penguin Drop  Cap edition of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak around a month back.

What’s one thing you’d like to see more of in books?

Proper and more representation of Indian characters. I recently read the ARC of When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon and loved it. It was so true in the depiction of Indian people and I’m so happy with the representation. That’s how it is like in families in my country and I want to see more of that in international literature. Nothing would make me happier!

Where do you go most often for book recommendations (other blogs, Goodreads, etc.)?

I get most of my book recommendations from other blogs and booktube. And also Goodreads, at times.

Is there anything you like to do while you read? Listen to music? Eat?

Not really. I feel like my concentration gets hampered so reading is a single task affair for me.

If you could only read one genre for the rest of your life, which would you choose?

I can’t read one genre for the rest of my life. I just can’t. 😛 I’ll tell you my favorite genres though : Young Adult, Mystery/Thriller, Fantasy and Adult. I can lead the rest of my life with these.

What’s one trope that you’ll never get tired of?

Best friends to lovers. I LOVE this trope (when done right). It’s fluffy, sweet and cute and usually ends up with me shipping the characters so hard.

I was nominated by the amazing Lovey @ femonomics for the Real Neat Blog Award. She is just so lovely and a HUGE thank you goes out to her. Also, the credit of creating this award goes to Kitty . It is just so incredible to get nominated for awards like these by my fellow bloggers because that just means that I’m succeeding towards my goal of reaching to other people.

Now let’s get on to my answers!

1. What is your perfect ice cream sundae ?

Chocolate Chill Grill from Kwality Walls Swirls. It is heavenly. Full of chocolate chips and chocolate sauce and chocolate ice cream.. yeah, you get the idea.

2. Who has been the most influential person in your life?

My mum. She has made me who I am and taught me everything that I know. She was the first teacher that I ever had and she will always be my favorite one too. I am all because of her.

I like the comfort of my bed when I relax. I usually read a book or watch some videos on YouTube.

I don’t like cold weather. When I was younger, I did live in a town where it dropped down to around five to six degree Celsius during winter and I distinctly remember absolutely loathing the many layers of warm clothes that mum made me wear. But now for a lot of years, I live in moderate winter cities so yeah, I’m just going to go with really hot.

5. When was the last time it snowed?

Never. I’ve never seen snow and watching a snowfall is definitely one of the top ranking things on my bucket list.

6. What was the last movie you saw?

I watched an excellent Bollywood movie called Dangal on Christmas. That was the last movie that I saw.

My dream vacation would be to travel all around the globe.

MY BLOGGING JOURNEY

Now most of you actually don’t know this but this isn’t my first blog. I’ve been blogging on OblivionAndStars since May, 2015. I started that blog as a place to just let everything out. There are times when I bottle up my thoughts and my emotions and I don’t think it is good for my mental sanity. OblivionAndStars is the place where I speak my mind out on issues which press my mind. Sometimes, they relate to my daily life. Sometimes, they are social issues. That blog is like my little safe haven because at times, real life tends to be way too overwhelming to the point that it becomes difficult to think clearly.

I also tend to drown myself in the fictional world. Books are the love of my life and the idea of having a book blog was something that I had been toying with since 2015.  There was a point when I wanted to review books on my first blog but it didn’t really go with the style over there. So I decided to make a separate blog altogether to share my love of books with the rest of the world. With support from my friends, I decided to take the plunge after I finish my exams. And that is how, ThatBibliophilicCauldron was born. (My bestie helped me with the name. She is a genius.)

The support from the blogosphere has been really amazing and I want to continue with my blogs for as long as I live because I seriously think that blogging is good for your health. 🙂

ADVICE TO BLOGGERS

Well, I honestly don’t think I’m in a position to give out advice because I’m still an absolute amateur myself but I’ll tell you some things which I find really helpful. First and foremost, pay attention to what you’re writing. It is ultimately the quality of writing that is going to draw your reader in. Secondly, have a nice welcoming layout for your blog. I myself love blogs with good graphics and pretty pictures. There is just something magnetic about it. So let out your creative and imaginative side. Also, talk to the blogging community. Mix with them. Read their posts. You can make so many great friends! It doesn’t matter whether you have five followers or five hundred followers. They are here for YOUR posts, so always give them your best.

And most importantly, always remember to HAVE FUN.

Here are my nominations :

EpicGreekGeek : She is one of the closest friends I’ve ever had and I love her so much. Her blog posts are nothing short of spectacular. Her writing is extremely beautiful and she, herself, is the best.

NonAlexithymic : She is another one of my ultrafabulous friends. She is such a supportive and encouraging person. She usually writes letters to a particular person on her blog and they are spiffing brilliant. Period.

AshlynTaylour : She is my comrade when it comes to writing. Always there for me and getting excited by my crazy ideas. Her blog posts are something that you’ll be instantly able to connect with and she is a really brilliant writer.

Ara | The Bookish Agenda : I just love her blog. Her reviews are great and she always manages to find the most fun book tags. She also happens to be an absolutely lovely person.

Novelgossip : She is another one of my favourite blogs. I really enjoy reading her blog posts. She is also a really great person to have a conversation with.

This is it for this special post. Thank you again to all of your support! I love you guys so much. Stay safe. Stay happy. 🙂
